This is a joint 4 week University group book publication project named: Cautionary Tales. This is also combined with my own personal project of creating a branding packaging bundle for this book.
Brief: We are tasked to create the whole book publication (cover, illustration, layout, typography) for 5 chapters of the book (28 pages in total) The original book is designed for children in the 1900s, however our BRIEF indicates our target audience directed to adults.
My group: Lex Bedeser: Co-Art director, Cover, Main Layout, Illustrator, Inking, Typography. Meghana Vylur: Art Director, layout, inking print production. Ben Yau: Typography, layout. Ramone Croft: Illustrator, Inking. Kareena Jenner: Illustrator

Our Creative Thinking: Our concept involved the theme of nostalgia in a comic illustrative style (inspired by 20th Century Beano comics) and a Scrapbook layout style and cover-  our adult audiences can reflect on both as it would spark back to their childhood - Reflection of nostalgia. My role involves creating the cover from scratch, applying the theme of scrapbook and creating frames for the created illustrations (created by Me, Kareena and Ramone). I have also created all layout concepts with additional patterns and illustrations that forwards both styles.

My Creative Thinking: I forward this outcome towards my own personal project, creating a branding packaging for clients to purchase as a collection. This involves: the packaging box, stickers, diary, stationary notes etc. I have also created animated gifs to represent the book in a unique visual construct.

Cautionary Tales? is a book by Hilaire Belloc relating to a collection of graphic poems showcasing a satire representation of children doing naughty and disgustful actions, leading to consequences (such as death), and highlighting the morals of each story:

Software Used: Adobe illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, After Effects (for small video animations), procreate

Above is a selection of Our group draft ideas, spot illustrative concepts, book cover development process, and layout thumbnails - Our theme chosen by our group: Nostalgia based on a scrapbook layout, a typewriter font Courier, and a 90s cartoon comic style.
For my personal project of creating a brand packaging bundle for adults purchasing this book, I wanted to keep the theme consistent. The selection of products, layout and mock-ups were based on stationary sets that accompany the 'scrapbook' style.
